Argentina in the RULATAM strategy is the foundation. Here you fix your status and stop living in a precarious legal position. Having a residence and a clear path to citizenship creates a stable connection with the state. After receiving the base, the remaining elements can be built around it: where to hold capital, in which jurisdictions to pay taxes and where to spend part of the year. Without this foundation, any structure remains temporary.

Country Overview
Who is a good fit for life and immigration in Argentina?
A good fit when the country's legal and financial conditions align with your family's needs. European culture, a strong passport and one of the lowest entry barriers in the region. Citizenship through naturalization - without investment and without giving up your first passport.
What to check before deciding
- Match the country to your family's main objective.
- Check your migration and tax residence separately.
- Review the relevant page for legal status, a passport, or assets.
Argentina in the RULATAM strategy
Argentina is needed not as a fallback destination, but as a legal foundation: status, residence, path to citizenship and further strategy around this base.
We see Argentina as the point where your strategy becomes truly long-term. There are very few such reliable points on the entire continent, so studying its capabilities is an essential part of the analysis. Argentina is about predictability. We help apply our expertise to turn the immigration process into an understandable legal algorithm that protects your interests and the interests of your family.

DNU 681/2026: Argentina gains the right to expel foreigners for hate speech
Argentina for the first time made hate messages against Argentines grounds for denial of entry, revocation of residence and deportation.

Argentina raised the parcel limit to 400 USD
Decree 604/2026 brought mail on par with courier services and for the first time allowed commercial exports by mail without value restrictions.

Courts rule Milei's DNU citizenship law unconstitutional - but that's not the end of the decree
Let’s read the practice correctly: what happens with specific cases of Argentine citizenship and why no lawyer alone can give the full picture.

Argentina in real numbers
Is Argentina right for you?
Answer six questions. After each answer, an explanation will appear, and at the end a final assessment will appear: how Argentina matches your expectations.
Living environment
Do you want to live in a free country, but want it to be “like in Europe”?
Argentina is a European environment on the other side of the world. The same architecture, the same cuisine, the same mentality - but a different climate, a different rhythm and different opportunities. If it is important for you to feel at home and not in the exotic, Argentina meets this need better than any other country in the region.
Taxes
Is a low tax burden fundamentally important to you—immediately and without workarounds?
Argentina has high taxes. The progressive scale, complex system and economic unpredictability make it a less precise instrument than Paraguay or Uruguay. Argentina is about life, not about minimizing the tax burden. But this issue can be resolved with the help of lawyers and accountants.
Family and quality of life
Are you looking for a country that is suitable for living with family and children, and not just a country for documents?
Argentina is one of the few countries in Latin America where the question “what about food, schools and medicine here” has a definitely good answer. International schools, private clinics of European level, safe areas with infrastructure - this is not the exception, but the norm for an expat in Buenos Aires.
Predictability
Are predictability and stability in everything from economics to politics the main factor when choosing a country?
Argentina is a country with character. Here the president changes every four years. Every two years - half of the parliament. Inflation, currency swings, political cycles are part of life here and must be accepted. Those looking for a safe haven with complete predictability are more likely to find it in Uruguay. Argentina is valued for something else.
Horizon of residence
Are you ready to make Argentina your main place of residence in the next three to five years?
Argentina is no longer a country for quick schemes. The 2025 reform closed “passport tourism” and fixed a simple rule: if you want citizenship, live. For those who are ready for this, the country is open. For those looking for workarounds, no.
Inclusion in the environment
Are you ready to integrate into the country, language and environment - at least gradually?
Argentina rewards people who engage with it. Spanish, local connections, understanding the context - these are not barriers, but keys. If you need an option where you can stay on the sidelines and not get involved, Argentina will quickly become annoying.
Quiz result
Argentina is possible, but requires analysis
The responses show a mixed bag. Argentina is worth comparing with other jurisdictions and checking for deadlines, taxes, family, documents and real life horizon.
Discuss the resultBriefly: who is Argentina suitable for?
Argentina is suitable for those who are looking for a country for life, family and long-term status: a European urban environment, a clear path to residence and citizenship, normal infrastructure for children and a willingness to gradually integrate into the local context.
Argentina is less suitable for those for whom the main criterion is a low tax burden without customization, complete economic and political predictability, or quick documentary results without real residence and connection with the country.
Why you can trust us
RULATAM is an extension of RuArgentina®
In 2016, we created the first immigration support project in Argentina. Since then, we have managed to assemble a team of people who not only work here - they live here, raise children, pay taxes and know everything about how this country works from the inside.
Argentina is our main market and our headquarters. This means depth that cannot be obtained by working remotely: we know local lawyers, notaries, banks and the migration service not by description, but by many years of working together. Each of our specialists has been selected, trained and tested for compliance with RULATAM standards. This is why families here receive the care and support for which we have been valued since 2016.

FAQ on naturalization in Latin America
We collected answers to basic questions about deadlines, requirements and status stability
To apply, you must have lived in Argentina for two years with the status of a legal resident, have a confirmed address and no violations of the law. The package includes DNI, certificates, proof of residence and an application. The procedure goes through the court: filing, verification, interview, decision and oath.
In Brazil, the basic period is four years, but it can be reduced to one year for parents of Brazilian children or spouses of Brazilian citizens. Uruguay requires three years for family applicants and five years for single applicants. In both cases, actual residence and real connections with the country are important.
A residence permit is a temporary status with a limited validity period. Permanent residence is a permanent resident status without regular renewals. For naturalization, residence remains key: a residence permit is usually counted towards the deadline, and the transition to permanent residence does not reset the countdown. The permanent residence permit itself does not provide a passport.
Argentina has the shortest basic period: application is possible after two years of residence. But speed does not mean automatic results. It is necessary to confirm a real connection with the country, address, legality of residence and the absence of serious violations. In other countries the period is longer, but there may be other benefits.
Yes. In Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Costa Rica and Uruguay, citizenship is obtained not by purchasing real estate or making a contribution, but by residence and integration. You need to have a residence permit, live in the country for the prescribed period, comply with local laws and confirm your connections: address, family, work or income.
Sometimes yes, if the goal is banking infrastructure, asset structure or fallback residency status. But for citizenship, a real connection with the country is almost always important: residence, address, documents, tax and household traces. Therefore, a regional strategy needs to be designed in advance.
Paraguay is often used as an easy entry point: you can obtain residency there without major investments and without the requirement of permanent residence. Argentina is suitable for those who really plan to live in the country. Costa Rica is interesting as an alternative to “wintering” destinations.
Argentina - for life and fast passport track. Uruguay - for stability and a long horizon. Brazil - for scale, market and a strong passport. Paraguay for easy entry and tax flexibility. Panama - for banks and institutions. Costa Rica is for a comfortable stay.
